We collaborate broadly to co-produce actionable knowledge that enables us to shape a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable urban future. We engage with community-based organizations as well as local, state, and international agencies to understand the effectiveness of current policies and identify blind spots.

The Stanford Future Bay Initiative is a Research-Education-Practice Partnership committed to co-production of actionable intelligence with our local Bay Area communities, in order to shape a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable urban future.

Living models for guiding policy

Models are often used to guide policy design, but they can become stale quickly in a rapidly changing world. To enhance the connection between science, policy, and public health in future times of crisis, we spell out three strategies: living models, coproduction, and shared metrics. We work with partners worldwide primarily around the question of coastal risk reduction. Acknowledging that there is not one-size-fits-all solution, we jointly work towards creating multiple options for moving forward while carefully evaluating their protective benefits.
